Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs 700g chicken thighs or chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour optional, for coating
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or any cooking oil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes optional, for a spicy kick
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

  • Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  • If you prefer a lightly crispy coating, toss the chicken pieces in flour and shake off any excess.

Cook the Chicken:

  • Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chicken pieces and cook until golden brown and fully cooked (about 4-5 minutes per side). Remove the chicken and set aside.

Make the Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the remaining butter.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add honey, soy sauce, and vinegar to the skillet. Stir and simmer for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Combine Chicken and Sauce:

  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the sauce.
  • If desired, sprinkle chili flakes for some heat.

Serve:

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite veggies.
