Ingredients
- For the filling:
- 1 lb 450 g ground beef or chicken
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
- For assembly:
- 4 large flour tortillas burrito-sized
- 4 crunchy tostadas or crispy corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 medium tomato diced
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup nacho cheese or queso sauce
Instructions
- Cook the Filling
- Brown the ground meat in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks.
- Drain any excess grease, then add the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
- Prepare the Layers
- Slightly warm the tortillas in the microwave for 10–15 seconds to make them more flexible.
- Place a large spoonful of meat in the center of each tortilla. Add a drizzle of nacho cheese or queso sauce on top.
- Assemble the Crunchwrap
- Place a tostada over the meat layer. Spread sour cream over the tostada.
- Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a handful of shredded cheese.
- Fold the Tortilla
- Fold the edges of the tortilla over the center, overlapping them to enclose the fillings. If necessary, use a piece of another tortilla to seal any gaps.
- Toast the Crunchwrap
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray.
- Place the Crunchwrap seam-side down and toast for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip and toast the other side.
- Serve
- Enjoy your Crunchwraps fresh and warm! Serve with salsa, guacamole, or extra queso on the side.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute black beans or refried beans for the meat. Want more spice? Add a layer of jalapeños or hot sauce before folding!
