Basil Pesto Sauce Recipe

Basil pesto is a fresh, flavorful sauce made with aromatic basil, nuts, garlic, Parmesan, and olive oil. It’s versatile, quick to make, and perfect for pasta, pizza, or as a dip for bread. The combination of ingredients creates a fragrant, vibrant green sauce that can elevate any dish.

Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula (optional)
  • Knife (for mincing garlic)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves packed
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts or walnuts
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon lemon juice for extra brightness

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, nuts, Parmesan, and garlic.
  • Pulse a few times to chop everything coarsely.
  • While the processor is running, slowly add olive oil until the mixture forms a smooth paste.
  • Season with salt and pepper, and add lemon juice if desired.
  • Use immediately with pasta, pizza, or as a topping for grilled vegetables or meats!
