Basil Pesto Sauce Recipe
Basil pesto is a fresh, flavorful sauce made with aromatic basil, nuts, garlic, Parmesan, and olive oil. It’s versatile, quick to make, and perfect for pasta, pizza, or as a dip for bread. The combination of ingredients creates a fragrant, vibrant green sauce that can elevate any dish.
Food processor or blender
Measuring cups and spoons

Knife (for mincing garlic)
- 2 cups fresh basil leaves packed
- 1/2 cup pine nuts or walnuts
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
- 2-3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1 tablespoon lemon juice for extra brightness
In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, nuts, Parmesan, and garlic.
Pulse a few times to chop everything coarsely.
While the processor is running, slowly add olive oil until the mixture forms a smooth paste.
Season with salt and pepper, and add lemon juice if desired.
