Homemade Bacon Cheese Smash Burger and Fries

Ingredients
  

For the Burger:

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 tbsp butter for buns

For the Fries:

  • 3 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt

Optional: ranch or garlic seasoning

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Fries

  • Cut potatoes into thin sticks, soak in cold water 15 minutes, drain, dry, toss with oil and salt. Bake or air fry at 400°F for 15–20 minutes until crispy.

Step 2: Cook the Bacon

  • Pan-fry or oven-bake your bacon strips until crisp. Set aside on paper towels.

Step 3: Smash the Burgers

  • Divide beef into 4 equal balls. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat. Smash each ball flat using a spatula, season with salt and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes per side. Add cheese on top and cover to melt.

Step 4: Toast the Buns

  • Butter the buns and toast in the same pan until golden brown.

Step 5: Assemble the Burger

  • Layer the bottom bun with beef patty, cheese, bacon, your favorite sauce, and toppings like lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
